In the heart of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Archetype Developments is redefining what it means to create a truly unique home. We connected with founder Jase Depperschmidt to learn how his team blends classic architecture with modern elements to craft spaces that are as individual as their owners.

From Childhood Dreams to Architectural Reality

Jase’s passion for home design blossomed early, nurtured by his parents’ own ambitious project – building their dream home. Inspired by their vision, Jase began sketching his own designs, a passion that ultimately led him to found Archetype Developments in 2020. Today, Archetype specializes in crafting custom homes, remodels, and additions that seamlessly blend classic architectural styles like French Country and English Tudor with modern sensibilities.

The Magic of Juxtaposition

“Juxtaposition” is key to Archetype’s signature aesthetic. Think the charm of exposed beams and arched doorways alongside sleek, contemporary finishes. This unique approach extends to their interior design work as well, where antique finds mingle effortlessly with modern furnishings.

Creating “Wow” Moments

For Jase, the most rewarding part of the process is collaborating with clients. Archetype firmly believes that a home should reflect the individuality of its owners. This philosophy drives them to create bespoke designs, each with its own “wow” moments – those unexpected details that elevate a space from beautiful to unforgettable.

Memorable Lighting Challenge

One such “wow” moment emerged from a recent whole-home remodel. Jase and his team envisioned a unique, custom light fixture, initially presented as a freehand sketch. While the clients were intrigued, they were also understandably hesitant. After much refinement and a few custom canopies, the final installation exceeded expectations, becoming a true showstopper in the home.

Materials Matter: Function and Value

When selecting materials, Archetype prioritizes both functionality and design value. Each element must not only serve its purpose but also contribute to the home’s overall aesthetic. This commitment to quality and design is one reason why Jase is particularly drawn to Horizon Stone.

The Enduring Appeal of Horizon Stone

“We try to incorporate [Horizon Stone] in every design we do,” Jase admits. And it’s easy to see why. Horizon Stone offers a unique blend of versatility, ease of installation, and aesthetic appeal that aligns perfectly with Archetype’s design philosophy.

“One of our favorite things about Horizon Stone is that it’s so easy to install on interiors (being on average 2” in depth) but still provides a variety of cuts, shapes, and colors that make even the exterior feel truly custom,” Jase explains. This allows Archetype to achieve a tailored look that complements the unique character of each home, whether it’s a cozy fireplace surround in the living room or a grand exterior façade.

Among the diverse range of Horizon Stone offerings, the 19th Century Hermitage stands out as a particular favorite for Jase and his team. Its timeless elegance and authentic texture lend a touch of old-world charm to any project, blending seamlessly with both classic and contemporary design elements.
